Privacy Policy
Softtechhub — https://softtechhub.us
Last updated: 30 October 2026 Effective: 30 October 2026
1. Who we are
Softtechhub (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website at https://softtechhub.us (the “Site”). We publish articles, tutorials and guides about technology, software and digital tools.
We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at:
- Email: [email protected]
This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It applies to the Site only. It does not apply to other websites we link to.
2. The short version
- We collect as little as possible.
- We never sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
- We use cookies for the Site to work and to understand which articles are useful.
- If you comment, subscribe or contact us, we keep what you gave us until you ask us to delete it.
- You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your information at any time by emailing us.
The rest of this page is the detail.
3. Information you give us
Comments
When you leave a comment we collect the name, email address, IP address and browser user-agent string you provide, plus the comment itself. We keep the IP address and user-agent to help detect spam and abuse.
If you use Gravatar, an anonymised string created from your email address (a “hash”) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture. You can read Gravatar's privacy policy at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Your profile picture, if you have one, is publicly visible next to your comment once it is approved.
Contact form
If you contact us through the Site, we collect the name, email address and message you submit. We use it only to answer you. We do not add you to a mailing list because you contacted us.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and the date you subscribed. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.
We use a third-party email delivery service to send newsletters. Your email address is stored there on our behalf and is not used by that provider for its own purposes.
Media
If you upload images through the Site, avoid uploading images that contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download images from the Site and extract that location data.
4. Information collected automatically
Server logs
Like almost every website, our hosting provider records requests to the Site. These logs include your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, your browser's user-agent string and the referring page. We use them to keep the Site running, to diagnose faults and to defend against attacks.
Analytics
Where we use a third-party analytics service, it is to understand which articles are read and how visitors find us. Analytics data is aggregated: we look at page views, not at individuals. If an analytics provider sets cookies, those cookies are listed in section 5 and you can refuse them.
Cookies
See section 5.
5. Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We use them for three purposes:
| Purpose | What it does | Can you refuse? |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Keeps you logged in, remembers a comment you submitted, protects forms against cross-site request forgery | No — the Site cannot work without them |
| Preferences | Remembers choices such as display settings | Yes |
| Analytics | Tells us which pages are read, in aggregate | Yes |
If you leave a comment on the Site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you do not have to fill in your details again. They last for one year.
If you have an account and log in, we set cookies to store your login details and your screen display preferences. Login cookies last two days, and screen-option cookies last a year. If you select “Remember me”, your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop parts of the Site from working.
6. How we use your information, and why we are allowed to
| What we do | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Publish and operate the Site | To provide the service you are using | Legitimate interests |
| Show and moderate comments | To host discussion and prevent abuse | Legitimate interests |
| Answer your messages | To respond to you | Legitimate interests / your request |
| Send the newsletter | Because you asked for it | Consent — withdraw any time |
| Measure readership in aggregate | To decide what to write next | Legitimate interests |
| Keep the Site secure | To detect and stop attacks | Legitimate interests |
| Comply with legal obligations | To respond to lawful requests | Legal obligation |
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that has a legal effect on you, and we do not profile you for advertising.
Softtechhub maintains its own accounts and Company Pages on social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Pinterest, Telegram and LinkedIn. This is not a feature available to visitors. No visitor can publish anything through the Site, and no visitor's information is sent to a social platform by us.
When we publish one of our own articles to one of our own accounts, the following is sent to that platform:
- the article title;
- a short description generated from the article;
- the URL of the article's featured image;
- the link to the article.
We do not send visitor comments, contact-form submissions, email addresses, IP addresses or cookie data to any social platform.
On LinkedIn we publish only to our own Company Page. To do this the Site reads the list of Company Pages the authorised administrator manages, and reads back the posts we have already published there so it can confirm that a post succeeded. The Site does not read LinkedIn member profiles, member posts, private messages or connection data, and it does not act on behalf of any member.
To do this, the Site stores an access token issued by each platform. Tokens are encrypted before they are stored, are never displayed to visitors, and are deleted when a connection is removed. You can revoke a token at any time from the platform's own settings, which immediately invalidates our access.
Caption generation
To write the short description, the Site sends the text of our own article (title, excerpt, body text, author name and site name) to an AI language-model provider. We do not send visitor content, and we do not send personal information about visitors. The provider processes the text on our behalf only to return a caption. It is a commercial AI service; you can ask us which one is currently in use using the contact details in section 17.
8. Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this Site may include embedded content such as videos, images, posts or code samples from other websites. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other site directly.
Those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including tracing your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that site. We do not control that. Check the privacy policy of the site whose content is embedded.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for advertising. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the Site, and only as far as they need it:
| Provider type | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting provider | All Site traffic, including IP addresses and server logs | To serve the Site |
| Email service provider | Your email address, if you subscribed | To send the newsletter |
| Analytics provider | Aggregated usage data | To measure readership |
| AI provider | The text of our own articles | To generate captions |
| Social platforms | Our own article metadata, as described in section 7 | To publish our articles |
| Spam-detection service | Comment content, IP address, user-agent | To block spam |
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect our rights, our users or the public.
10. Where your information is stored
Our hosting provider and the services listed above may store data outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. Where information is transferred internationally, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses.
11. How long we keep information
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Comments and their metadata | Indefinitely, so the discussion stays readable — until you ask us to delete them |
| Contact-form messages | 24 months after the conversation ends |
| Newsletter subscription | Until you unsubscribe, plus 12 months of suppression data so we do not email you again by mistake |
| Server logs | 30 days, then deleted or anonymised |
| Analytics data | 14 months, in aggregate |
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This lets us recognise and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them for moderation.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know whether we hold information about you, and receive a copy of it;
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete information we hold about you;
- restrict how we use it;
- object to our use of it, including for direct marketing;
- receive it in a portable, machine-readable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on consent;
- complain to a data-protection authority in your country.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We reply within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so we do not hand your information to someone else.
We will not charge you for exercising these rights, and we will not treat you differently for doing so.
13. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information: encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the Site, encrypted storage of any access tokens we hold, restricted administrative access, and prompt installation of security updates.
No website can guarantee absolute security. If a breach occurs that is likely to affect your rights, we will notify affected users and the relevant authority without undue delay.
14. Children
The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
15. Links to other sites
Our articles link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. This policy stops at our domain.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the Site or the law changes. The “Last updated” date at the top always shows the current version. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will announce it on the Site.
17. Contact
Questions, requests or complaints about this policy:
Email: [email protected]
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you have the right to complain to your national data-protection authority.
